[b. 1946] American photographer - Magnum Member

I had hoped my photographs would form an inspiring overview of one chapter in our struggle for equality in America. But that hope dimmed over the years as I photographed life in low-income housing projects, the struggle against the Ku Klux Klan in Forsyth County, Georgia, and riots between black citizens and police in the Liberty City district of Miami. The struggle's end that I had longed for was nowhere in sight. - Eli Reed
The main thing for me is that I'm happy that I've been able to work as a professional photographer. What is at the core of my work is, in essence, a mediation on being a human being. - Eli Reed
